2018 ANNUAL REPORT 23 When the threshold was raised from $2,000 to $5,000 for reporting and paying the business personal property tax, 50,000 small business owners received a tax break that has benefited consumers and locally-employed workers. The Assessor’s Office hosts a series of free business seminars to assist owners with their annual Business Personal Property Statement-Form 571-L. Participants receive guidance on what is considered business personal property, what the filing process entails, and who is eligible to file electronically. What is business personal property?
